Grape seed extract (GSE), concentrated from the seeds of grape (Vitis vinifera L.), has a high content of compounds known as oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), which are made up of proanthocyanidin monomers, accounting for the most dominant effect of GSE.
A growing body of scientific evidence suggests that GSE possesses a broad spectrum of biological, pharmacological and chemo-protective properties against free radicals and oxidative stress. GSE, best known for its anti-oxidant contents, has been shown to have significantly greater antioxidant activity than vitamin C, E or beta-carotene.
